Adrien Joly
PhD, Head of Social Platform at whyd
Young graduate of the INSA de Lyon, I achieved my PhD on Context-Aware Social Networks for the Social Communications department of Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs.
My ambition is to contribute to improving people's lives using the latest technologies related to Ambient Intelligence, Pervasive Systems, Ubiquitous Computing, Social Networking, Semantic Web, Mobile Applications, and modular software architecture.
Today, I'm developing *whyd*, a new web-based search engine that leverages linked data and social knowledge.

We are developing a great technology for the next web, introducing the “Giant Global Graph” (GGG). Trust us, we are working on the next generation of search engines and social networks by linking contents and user interests in a new fascinating way.
2007 - 2010As part of the Social Communications dept., my research consists in studying the benefits of utilizing ontologies in context-aware applications.
2006 - 2007As a member of the "Mobile Applications" team, I am working on study and integration projects relying on software embedded in mobile devices such as mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs.
The last project I've been working on consisted in developping a SmartTP proxy on Smartphone (Windows Mobile 5.0) allowing applications to communicate with a web server hosted on a SIM card and to download new services over-the-air. We worked side-by-side with the client's R&D team on the SmartTP protocol specifications, software design, native C++ implementation and validation of the proxy. A prototype was shown at the 3GSM conference 2007, Barcelona.
2006 - 2006Development of a interoperable users management module for Joomla.
Synchronization of Joomla's users repository with other open source applications (including cPanel and vTiger CRM) in the SauceOpen platform. Extensible for new applications.
2005 - 2005Modularization of a unit deployment software used by French firemen.
Made a DLL loadable module by extracting a part of “I/CAD” C/C++ source code (that was monolithically designed), by using both low level techniques and (high level) design patterns.
2003 - 2004Design and implementation of SmartMap for Isotools Studio.
Creation of interactive cartography module for content management software featuring the following technologies: Flash, XML, Javascript, ActiveX ATL components.
