SUPPORT TO OPERATIONS
Many of the peacetime HR / Personnel, Administrative functions and financial responsibilities continue even when the Army is deployed on operations - officers and soldiers (and their families) still need to be paid and looked after, even in war. In addition to my normal responsibilities, the RAO has the following operational duties:
Personnel Tracking. Ensuring that every officer & soldier deployed on operations is properly accounted for.
Casualty Reporting. Ensuring that the details of those those killed or injured are notified accurately in order that relatives can be quickly informed.
Prisoner of War (POW) Registration. Ensuring that the personal details of captured enemy soldiers are recorded and notified.
And of course, because everyone belonging to the Administration Office is trained as a soldier first and foremost, my staff can undertake a wide range of military duties such as sentry guards, security patrols, watchkeeping (monitoring radio communications) and driving duties.
