Born from a South African mother, I have the chance of having learnt English very early. Added to my English knowledge, I have done a six month exchange in a German family as I was ten. This way, I now know French, English and German.

I have entered INSA de Lyon in 2004 straight after A-levels. My two first years at INSA were oriented towards maths, physics and chemistry. This is also were I learnt about computer science and programming. As I liked it, I then integrated the computer science department in third year. Although my knowledge was small compared to most of the other students who already knew about programming for at least four or five years, I managed, thanks to my self-learning during the holidays preceding the beginning of the courses, to end up in the first quarter in the third and fourth year (31st and 33rd out of 132).

In parallel of my studies, I also did associative work and sport. I've played seven years of rugby, two of which I was team captain. Not only rugby, I have also done tennis (9 years), table tennis (2 years), soccer (5 years), swimming (3 years) and a little bit of badminton, squash, volley ball, hurling and Gaelic football. On top of that, I have had the chance of traveling pretty much. Trips with which I have been able to go to South Africa, the United States, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. I believe that learning about other cultures is getting more and more important in an environment where only cultural frontiers subsist.

Professional experience
2009 - 2009

I worked for Sopra Group in the Research and Development section for the ERP "ULIS" (Urban Land Information System).
A project had been built to improve two young modules of the software : the Automatic Document Lecture module and the Electronic Document Management module. To improve them a meeting had been organized with the clients to note all their suggestions. My task was then to implement all the kept suggestions. In all the evolutions, part were an implementation work directly on ULIS, part were integration work between ULIS and the third party software doing the document lecture and the document management, and the final part was to validate the new versions of the third party softwares.

IT - Telecommunications
2008 - 2008

For this four month work experience, had to understand how mobile phones work to then work on the HLR cluster. I had to do the design and development of a tool to centralise all connections to the clusters.

This tool was written in python. It was a TCP server that would allow people to automatically connect via SSH to any available cluster and launch commands on them. It stores all actions to help the testing team analyse the bugs and reasons of the bugs. It also has a security centre allowing or connections to different servers.
As it had first been developed for a use by other program to help automate different redundant task for the testers, I then developed a client tool with a GUI for humans to use/access the server tool. The client tool has a well thought history of all sent commands and their result for easy and quick use. It also allows questioning on the database and a view on all opened connections (for which client has the right to access) to see if server is up or down.

French, English and German guide in the telecommunication museum of Pleumeur-Bodou, France.
This museum is a pretty technical museum about telecommunication. It talks about optical fibres, satellites, electro-magnetic waves, how cellphones work etc.. I had to do English, French and German presentations of the museums to groups. I learnt a lot about history of telecommunication, but also about telecommunication techniques now a days.
