Before joining the Databases team I was both Sysprog and Team Leader for the Mainframe team running OS390 then z/OS on a 1000MIPS z900 with 6 LPARs. I ran and participated in several large projects including but not limited to upgrades of DB2, IMS, RACF, CICS, the 'move' of the mainframe from Lyon to Gothenburg, the use of new standards procedures etc that were put in place by Volvo IT (Volvo being the owners of Renault Trucks).
1998 - 2001I started as a Junior Security Analyst in the IT Security department, touching VMS, AS400, OS390, Windows and UNIX systems in use by C&W. In two and a half years I was promoted from Junior, to Security Analyst, to Senior Security Analyst to Consultant, specializing in platform (operating system) security particularly on UNIX. I also did compliance checking, development of standards and procedures, risk analysis, business impact analysis, consulting on new projects including goverment, multinationals and internal solutions. My time at C&W was extremely interesting during a period of very rapid technological advances and a 'can do' attitude. I left at the begining of 2001 when C&W started to experience the same difficulties as others in the telecoms field.
