Nashiely Pineda
MRI/MRS Advanced Application Specialist, Siemens
I’m an electronic engineer and I’m very interested in the High Technology and the medical progresses.
I worked during 3 years for GE Healthcare in France, in the development team for the digital mammography. After this experience I continued my studies and obtained a Doctorate in Biophysics in partnership with Siemens Medical Solutions.
I went to Atlanta, USA, to the Biomedical Engineering department of Emory University and Georgia Tech to accomplish a 2 year post-doctoral fellowship.
I work for Siemens Medical Solutions in France as an Advanced Application Specialist for MRI equipments. I train the radiologist and radio-technicians to the MRI Physics and Siemens MRI scanners. I give support also to the marketing and sales teams in the scientific, technical and clinical aspects of MRI systems for the invitations to tender.
I fluently speak English, French and Spanish.
• Assist MRI Siemens customers in the MRI/MRS advanced applications.
• Train customers to use and work on the MRI Siemens systems.
• Create and adapt MRI clinical protocols to fit customer needs.
• Assist the commercial and marketing teams in the scientific, technical and clinical aspects of MRI systems for the invitations to tender.
• Create documentation for the clinical application.
• Assist customers in the publication of scientific results on specialized journals and international conferences.
• Develop new MRI and MRS sequences.
2006 - 2008• Conducted and managed the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy experiments of the liver to access to the iron concentration and lipids content. Advised by Dr. Diego Martin and Dr. Xiaoping Hu.
• Conducted and managed the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy experiments of the spinal cord for the quantification of neuronal degeneration in the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease and of the rat brain in a 9.4 tesla animal scanner. Advised by Dr. Xiaoping Hu and Dr. John Carew.
• Developed Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy sequence programs.
• Analyzed the cognitive mechanisms of human brain by behavioral tests and fMRI.
Graduate Research Assistant., University of Nantes, FRANCE, in partnership with Siemens Medical Solutions.
2003 - 2006• Optimized the analysis of in vivo 1H-NMR spectra in the neuroradiology department of the Hospital of Nantes.
• Developed a post-processing based on the MRI scanner software.
• Carried out a statistical analysis on the spectra of patients affected by glioma.
• Created an optimal protocol of acquisition for the diagnosis and the classification of glioma.
• Created a tool based on principal components analysis (PCA) to integrate new patients in the database and give the possibility to diagnose based on the zone where new data will be positioned.
• Developed new sequences in MRS aiming to reduce the measurement time and to increase the precision in MRS of the brain (IDEA software).
Systems Engineer., General Electric Medical Systems: Image Quality Group for Mammography, Buc, FRANCE.
2000 - 2003• Designed new algorithms to optimize the detection of compression paddles and diagnostic objects (lead markers) in order to stabilize and control the X-ray dose delivered to the patient.
• Performed an extensive statistical study on a large panel of clinical images to validate the new exposure algorithm demonstrating improvement of patient dose control.
• Identified the root cause of a very critical and intermittent exposure aborts on site (working closely with customers as well as engineers from different areas) and then led the program to develop and deploy the fix on installed based products.
• Provided support in quality imaging for Full Field Digital Mammography 2000D and film mammography systems.
• Worked with the Installed Base Quality Assurance, Service, Manufacturing and Production teams giving support in Quality Imaging, using 6-sigma statistic methodology to improve quality (green belt certified).
• Used post-processing tools as mathematic morphology method to segment the skin in a three-dimensional magnetic resonance image of the head.
• Developed a communication software for a microprocessor C80 and a serial controller.
• Worked in the client service and repairing the failures in the satellite web connections.
