Operations Intern at OXUS Development Network
I am currently a student in masters (M1) at Audencia Nantes School of Management in France. I study Business Management in general and more specifically corporate law, finance, management, and marketing.
I have decided to specialize myself in microfinance, especially the operational side of microfinance, through my choices of interships.
I am a born South African and have travelled all over the world since. Therefore I am very much attracted to the international dimension in a company.
2012 - 2012The main tasks :
· Oversee the efficiency, relevance and growth of Oxus operations worldwide;
· Oversee the preparation and development of subsidiary business plans;
· Provides technical assistance to subsidiaries in their strategy implementation and operations;
· Drive performance measures for the measurement of operations performance;
· Harmonize procedures and policies and capitalize on best practices;
· Provides technical backstopping on all matters related to operations;
· Promotes the implementation of new products and services;
· Support OXUS subsidiaries in their transformation plan;
· Defines a training and technical assistance plan;
· Oversee the technical assistance plan is implemented and ensures deliverables are being met on time and in compliance with quality standards;
· Provide support during the pre-operational phase during registration and launching of operations in new countries;
In charge of partnerships especially for the theatre department, BDA (Bureau des Arts / Art association) Audencia
2011 - 2011• Organised theatre outings for the students of Audencia (200 people)
• Established partnerships with local theatres
• Part of the theatre group in competitions such as the TDA organised by Toulouse Business School in Barcelona. The TDA is a competition in each art category (danse, theatre, music,...) between all French Business Schools
Worked with a team on projects such as
• the "Intercults": an art festival in Nantes open to all, 25 000€ of budget for all the events, I planned two films in a local cinema (“Exit through the gift shop” and “The radiant child”)
• a movie "Mauvais Oeil": produced by students of Audencia and after 4months of shooting, showed the final result (a 1 hour long movie) to the students of Audencia (500 people attended the premire). I conducted the castings of the actors.
• a musical "Do not disturb": I was in charge of catering 400 people per night
2011 - 2011• One week training on microfinance in Dhaka at Grameen HQ
• Field work: Examined micro-credit files and followed up with the clients’ activities
• Wrote a report on Grameen Bank's current activities
Concerning social businesses:
• Met with all of Grameen's sister companies
• Attended the Social Business Day 2011 in Dhaka, Bangladesh
• Field visit of 3 social businesses Grameen Danone in Bogra, Grameen Eye Care Hospital and Grameen Veolia (study of the impact and interview of the beneficiaries) + in-depth knowledge of the business
2010 - 2011Within a competition:
• Conducted a market survey
• Conducted a internal and external analysis of the brand (ie Mozzarella Galbani)
• Created a qualitative and quantitative questionnaire for market survey purposes and conducted the interviews
• Wrote a report on the findings
• Delivered marketing and strategic recommendations for the brand in front of the marketing department of Lactalis
