Configuration Manager Expert - Team Leader - Project Manager
After several years as developer, project manager, I've been focusing my work on Configuration Management & Software Engineering topics.
This is quite a touchy topic, still much underestimated in many companies, even if a sensible CM policy leads to a good ROI. Moreover, software development teams regard CM as a set of constraints. Thus, whenever dealing with CM, you have to be very patient, tring and convincing as well the management as the developers, that you are not working against them, but with & for them.
Anyhow, multi-site development and trends to organize maintenance of products abroad (India, China, Marocco) compell companies to improve their CM policy, in order to be able to work in good conditions with some teams abroad.
I have now the opportunity to try and organize CM for NAGRA, in a CMMI level 2 background, with a team located at two different geographical sites, and coordinating the effort with sites in the US, UK, and China. Thus, withstand to changes, cultural aspects have to be taken into account.
Quite challenging, isn't it?
18 contactsI've been organizing a Configuration Management team located in France & Switzerland, and coordinating the CM organization with some other NAGRA companies, located in the US, UK, China.
The global present mission, in the background of CMMI Level 2, is to help R&D teams developping sensible CM practices, using the two NAGRA version control tools and Change Management tools.
