Vincent SOUMOY

Let’s start from the beginning; I am born on February the 20th in 1964 in Charleroi (French speaking part of Belgium), and I grew (until 1m96) in a small city called Mariembourg where my parents are still living.

From 12 to 18, I was at school in Chimay, 20km from home (I do presume anybody knows the beer!). I went to the University of Namur for a Master in Physics before to stay one year at Von Karman Institute in Brussels where I obtained the Diploma Course, option turbomachinery.

In 1987, I moved to Nancy (France) where I spent 3 years as Ph.D. student at INRS (National Institute for Research and Safety). The subject was “Lagrangian particles dispersion applied to cupboards”.

During this time, I meet Virginie, international piano concertist. We get married in 1990. We do have 2 daughters Margaux, born in 1996 and Astrid born in 1999.

We moved to Metz where I was employed for 2 years as Research Engineer by the French Iron and Steel Industry. Then for one year I was the Sales Office of the French Distributor of Nisa and Phoenics for the North-East part of the France, Belgium and Switzerland.

I began my Flowmaster story in February 1994. I was engaged as Application Engineer by Marie-Christine Oghly, Managing Director of Fluid Dynamics International. In 1997 I started with her “Flowmaster France”. From 1994 to 1999 I was in charge of support, pre-sales, training, consulting in France, Spain and Italy.

In 2000, I became a Sales Engineer in charge of French market.

From a personal point of view, people knowing me avoid speaking sports with me. I am more dedicated to music, playing guitar and directing an adult choir giving recently concerts in France, Italy, Canada, Belgium... I am also Manager of a professional Chamber Music Orchestra. In the past I enjoyed stamp collecting and flying.

I am living now in the Paris suburbs, in Mériel, where growths the French actor “Jean Gabin” and close to Auvers-sur-Oise where “Van Gogh” ends his life. I am involved in the social, cultural and school life of this 4000 inhabitant’s city.
