2007 - 2010Noble Resources (Shanghai) Company Limited is owned by the Noble Group, a leading commodity trading house based in Hong Kong and active in metals, energy and agricultural products processing and trading. US$29bn annual revenue, 4,800 employees.
I was based in Shanghai for two years following the one year Noble International Training Program (assignments in Switzerland, Argentina, India and Singapore). Main skills used on the job below:
Strategy and Business Development
• Carried out a successful business development campaign in Japan, establishing a strategic new outlet for Noble China products. Performed a first sale worth over US$1m in 2010.
• Opened export channels for Chinese soybean meal to the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand, resulting in US$7.2m worth of sales.
• Collaborated with Noble Research Department to analyze supply and demand in China and identify trading opportunities such as time or product spreads.
Commodity Trading and Quantitative Skills
• Traded the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), arbitraging soybean crush margins, soybean oil import parities and soybean oil carries. In 2009, Noble Grain China imported 2.2 million tons of soybeans and 118 k tons of vegetable oil which were hedged on the DCE by the Shanghai Desk.
• Automated live margin calculations for the Shanghai Desk, resulting in significant time savings (est. 15 hours per week).
• Performed a cost and feasibility audit of containerized soybean meal exports out of Argentina and India.
2006 - 2007SERGI is a Paris-based company manufacturing and distributing electrical transformer explosion prevention equipment with €20m in annual turnover and 200+ employees worlwide.
I was based in Paris and travelling 40% of the time to the Asia Pacific region. Main skills used on the job below:
Client Relationship and Business Development
• Generated EUR2.3m of new sales mainly to Pakistan, Indonesia and the Philippines. Negotiated contract and Letter of Credit terms.
• Increased product awareness through customer meetings and industry fairs in most South East Asian countries, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
• Established a partnership with AREVA in Australia and New Zealand, and a new sale representation in South Korea.
Project Management and Teamwork
• Spearheaded cross-functional teams to issue tailor-made solutions for projects in Malaysia and Australia.
• Interacted constantly with the Project Dept. for ongoing installations across the Asia Pacific region, and with the Production, Finance and Logistical Dept. for the execution of new sales (> 25 shipments/year).

Main tasks:
• Generated production plans using sales forecasts. Optimized inventories, resulting in substantial savings through lower stock levels.
• Redesigned the customer complaint handling process, shortening customer waiting time.
Business Analyst, CETEM (Centro de Technologia Mineral) - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
2003 - 2003Business Analyst at the CETEM (Mineral Technology Center), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Studied the recycling process for used car batteries in Brazil. Conducted cost analysis of alternative lead recycling systems using manufacturer and market data. Proposed improvements and policies for the optimization of the existing collecting network.
