First of all I would like to thank you for reading this letter.
With this letter I hope to update you on my significant hands-on my international work experience. I would ask you to consider my CV for a position of Junior Trader in order to work with commodities within an international well established organization.
I have started to work in metal business almost five years ago with Alphametal. The office was based in Johannebourg, RSA. During 12 months I have been responsible for the follow up of contracts closed with suppliers in DRC (Gecamines) and customers overseas (Glencore, Republic House, Ameropa). I was also in contact with LME and LMB from London to fix prices of contracts on regular basis for all our counterparts.
Then I have spent a year working in Lubumbashi, DRC. I was responsible for the overall metal operations, ie: logistics, finance and customer relationships on the ground. It was an all-encompassing multi skilled position. Then at the end of GECAMINES's contract with AMEROPA, I left Lubumbashi for Kinshasa.
In Kinshasa, I worked at the BIAC (Banque Internationale pour l'Afrique au Congo) as a Risk & Credit Manager. This position gave me the opportunity to further understand the process of customer credit analysis and set up of letters of credits.
My stay in DRC was always meant to be temporary and my personal objective was the development of my management skills, ability to work in a significantly different cultural environment. After three years in Africa, I had decided to go a step further and take up new challenges back in Europe.
From July 2008 to November 2009, I worked for ED&F MAN in Paris in palm oil field as a planner. The aim of my position was to allocate contracts between purchases and sales from origin to destination. Working on the trading desk, day by day, I was doing follow up of the trading position with all shorts and longs contracts. Stowage of vessels was also one of my daily duties according to vessel, chart party, rotation, to calculate physical and chemical constraints and price checking between market and contracts.
This position required analytical skills, good coordination with colleagues and counterparts, availability, flexibility and creativity. Working in an international environment with commodities requires all this skills.
Last October 2009, in order to improve my skills I have registered a Finance and International Trading Program at ESLSCA (Paris). This program covers all different subjects related to finance (Options, Equities, Interest Rates, Etc…) and to commodities trading (raw materials, petrol, etc…).
After all my experiences, I still feel bound to commodity trading but in a different field and at a higher level. My significant background in commodities has been built up on my chemical understanding, especially with industrial process and flow sheets. Following my ESLSCA program I would like to resume my experiences in your company for a position that fits my profile and interests according to develop my business knowledge in a corporate field.
I am a team player, accurate, motivated and eager to work. I am also ready to move overseas in order to reach my personal goals.
