Sales & Operations Director, Focus Reports
Focus Reports is a B2B media agency in charge of producing special country supplements for international trade publications such as the Oil and Gas Financial Journal, Pharmaceutical Executive or International Business Daily, the official newspaper of the Ministry of Commerce of the P. R of China.
My responsibilities have evolved with time. During 3 ½ years, I was on the field as Project Manager before becoming Sales and Operations Director, position I have occupied in total for 2 ½ years now.
For this position, I have been based in Sydney-Australia, Paris-France and due to my husband’s expatriations, Sohar-Oman and Pointe Noire-Congo.
My responsibilities :
* Market intelligence: Selecting potential projects through macroeconomic and political analysis of country / sector
* HRM : recruiting our future field directors, selecting the right team, ensuring on-going training of each team member
* Management: ensuring daily correspondences and monthly visits to teams on the field, direct reporting to the Managing Director / Owner of Focus Reports
* Sales: Putting in place the right strategy to make sure the project is successful and targets are reached (financial, time frame and costs)
Results:
* I have trained and managed over 30 individuals
* I have supervised projects and teams in 15 different countries: the USA, Mexico, Brazil, the UK, Spain, Poland, Greece, Indonesia, China, Singapore, Malaysia...
2009 - 2010The OTS Group is a recruitment and HR company to the global EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) world, focused on recruiting highly skilled professionals (engineers mostly) on short temp or technical assistance contracts, to such clients as Technip, Saipem, Air Liquide, Acergy, Oger International, Bouygues Batiment and more.
My role consisted in developing a new business unit from scratch: the international department. My clients were French companies working on large scale international projects, and my objective was to source the right talents to be sent on these projects overseas, in such countries as Angola, Nigeria or Egypt.
I resigned due to my husband’s expatriation to Oman.
2003 - 2009I was working on a project basis in an assigned country, and as the Project Manager of a team of 2 to 3 people, my overall responsibility was to compile strategic industry reports and raise sponsorship, on projects lasting 2-6 months.
Tasks included:
* Compiling market intelligence and defining the overall project strategy
* Developing a networking strategy to arrange face-to-face interviews with political and business leaders (high government officials, chairmen, CEOs)
* Conduct insightful one-on-one interviews with those senior level executives
* Raise funds through advertisements to produce reports ranging from 15 to 20 pages
* Daily training of each member of the team
Results:
* I produced 8 different reports: Mining in Chile, Quebec, Turkey; Automotive in Mexico; Furniture in Malaysia; High profile strategic reports on Australia-China trade relations and various European countries-sectors for China (Aerospace, Higher Education, Green Energy)
* Managed to arrange interviews with such personnalities as Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard in April 2006 & Christine Lagarde as France’s Minister of the Economy, May 2009)
* I have interviewed over 400 CEOs around the world, from a variety of sectors and companies
