Erick Ciraud
Director, AGrowCo, Int.
I am currently managing the company I started two year ago ( www.agrowco.com )
I was previously the General Manager of Plan Ornemental, a subsidiary of the Plan company, a 50 million Euros seed and plant company mainly operating in France.
Prior to this position, I was the Sales and Marketing Senior Manager of Sakata, a worldwide seed company, for its EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
This position followed the EMEA Marketing Management one for Syngenta Europe.
I have also managed a local chain of garden centers as my true first job.
Starting a company from scratch is an exciting experience that happened at the best time of my life! After years at various management positions in different countries, I thought that I had all the skills to start my own business, and I was right. It is essential to have gone through all the steps I've been through to understand the way modern companies are operated. However, once you start investing your own money in your business, you discover another side of management that you can not see when employed by a large corporation. Making decision is still easy but you must spend more time in evaluating the consequences. Back to my initial statement, starting a business is exciting. Now, the next step is to make the business sustainable. I'll have more to say about this in the future.
