2008 - 2009Assisting the Chartering, Operation and Commercial departments in negotiating contracts or specific clauses.
Advising the Management on various issues as required
Assessing internal procedures and improving them as necessary
Monitoring the legal implications during vessels drills
Following the US OPA notifications procedures ahead of vessels calls
Handling marine and non marine insurance and claims files such as H&M, FD&D, P&I, Crew.
Preparing and keeping up to date a weekly report of the claims and files
Attending renewal meetings and discussions with the P&I Club and the H&M underwriters.
Applying for vessels certificates in order to update any change in the management
2006 - 2008Handling all manner of P&I and FD&D files, including precautionary matters
Acting as a point liaison between Members of The American Club (and their Brokers), lawyers, correspondents, surveyors and others and SCB (UK) Ltd principals, SCB Inc
Verifying that the risk/claim is covered under the Member?s entry with the Club and that the Members? account is up to date at the beginning of matters,
Settling third party P&I claims at the most economic figure possible, in accordance with the Rules and the Member?s Terms of Entry
Estimating P&I claims promptly and in accordance with the procedures.
Handling Defence disputes as directed
Reviewing regularly the schedule of all estimated claims to ensure they are properly recorded and estimated within the guidelines
Appointing lawyers, surveyors, consultants and correspondents and evaluating critically advice received, and acting thereon
Notifying Charterers and their Insurers and make recoveries from other contractual parties where appropriate
Ensuring that Members are kept adequately informed at all stages of a claim and understand both their and the Club's position in any situation
Organizing files appropriately and in accordance with procedures
Reporting internally as required and in accordance with procedures
Participating in out of hour?s emergency telephone and respond to general claims enquiries by Members and correspondents at all times if requested
Visiting some correspondents in France and West Africa
Advising Shipowners on specific issues related to Charter Parties Clauses
Investigating and advising internally on specific issues concerning France and Africa
2002 - 2006Managing third party liability claims, providing advisory services to the P&I Clubs and to their Members. in particular
Monitoring surveyors in West Africa on either Owners' or Charterers' behalf
Negotiating and putting up securities: club letters or Bank guarantees to avoid ships? arrest
Monitoring West African Counsels and obtaining lifting of arrest orders,
Assessing the legal and financial risks in case of West African and/or French Court proceedings
Negotiating claims against European and African cargo interests, Customs and Ports Authorities
Drafting full and -final claim releases and ensuring that original securities are returned
Writing detailed reports of assistance to the P & I Clubs and invoicing accordingly
Visiting the Clubs in the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and correspondents in France and West Africa.
Dealing with stowaways? matters: interviewing stowaways to determine their nationality, organising their repatriation
