Since April 2006: Internal Control and Compliance Audit, sanofi-aventis, the fourth largest pharmaceutical company worldwide (2006 consolidated sales: 28.4 B€) – Paris, France.
The department conducts audits in all countries the company has operations in, and in all types of activities performed (Commercial Operations, Industrial Operations, Research and Development, Supply Chain, etc.), as well as all affiliates and joint-ventures (sanofi pasteur, Merial, SPMSD, etc.)
Assignments are split in the following phases:
•Preparation phase, including interviews with Corporate management in Finance, Operations and support functions, as well as financial statement and environment review in order to identify potential risks to audit,
•Audit of the operation, including interviews to understand processes, sample testing on documents and system extracts, and weekly reports of risks covered,
•Report phase, including writing of the report summarizing the organization of the audited entity, as well as the recommendations on the discrepancies found.

I conducted assignments in the following areas:
•Pharmaceutical Operations (Singapore (2006 sales: 46M€, Venezuela (2006 sales: 130 M€), Gulf Zone based in Dubai (as team leader) (2006 sales: 40 M€)),
•Industrial Operations (Algeria (29 M units produced), Poland (33 M units produced), Hungary (as team leader) (9 M units produced)),
•Supply Chain (France (33 M units in inventory as of 30/11/2007)),
•Vaccines (Italy (SPMSD – 2006 sales: 41 M€) and Australia (sanofi pasteur – 2006 sales: 38 M€),
•Specialized audit (insurance (Carraig, internalized insurance company based in Ireland – total claims paid in 2005: 300 M€) and sanofi-aventis US benefits plan (total pension obligation as of 31/12/2006: 1.8 B$),
•Merial, the animal health joint-venture with MSD (US Operations – 2006 sales: 1 B$).

October 2002 – March 2006: Assurance auditing, KPMG, one of the largest worldwide providers of auditing and consulting services (113 000 auditors in 148 counties, generating 16,9 B$ in fees in 2006)– Paris, France.
Part of the Industrial and Energy department of the Paris office, I performed assurance audits and reporting / accounting validation assignments, in French and US GAAP, as well as in IFRS accounting standards. Between October 2004 and March 2006, I was Senior Auditor in charge of assignments, with teams ranging from one to three team members. Main clients included:
•CLAAS Tractors (ex-Renault Agriculture) (German specialist in farming equipment – 2006 sales: 2 B€): year-end accounts and reporting validation (both for the plant and the commercial outlets located in on the whole French territory), both in French GAAP and IFRS, as well as participation in the due diligence of CLAAS on Renault-Agriculture),
•DCN (Direction des Chantiers Navals – now a division of THALES defence systems – 2006 sales: 3 B€) : semester and year-end accounts and reporting validation for inventory and supplier accounts in French GAAP,
•Sealed Air SAS, the French affiliate of Sealed Air Inc, a leading American producer of packaging products, from wholesaler goods to produce, whose capital is present on the New York Stock Exchange (2006 sales: 4 B$): year-end accounts and reporting validation in US and French GAAP, as well as SOX internal control requirement documentation testing and validation.

May 2001 – December 2001: Internship in financial controlling, ILOG, one of the world leaders in software components (based in Paris) – 2006 sales: 133 M$.
Assisting the Head of Controlling and Financial Analysis, I participated in the implementation of a HYPERION based consolidation application (ENTERPRISE), as well as in the implementation of controlling and budget analysis tools with ESSBASE, a HYPERION based financial data-base.
