2005 - 2009Responsibilities:
• Provide on-going accounting guidance and expertise to the VP’s of Finance and their teams in Europe (60% of the Group’s turnover) in order to ensure the accuracy of their financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and statutory regulation while providing an independent view to Harman CFO on their activities
• Manage two assistant controllers; developed two prior assistant controllers into VP Finance roles
Achievements:
• Successful completion of three fiscal year-end audits with no material accounting issues identified within the European business units
• Managed due diligence on four potential acquisition targets (10 to 100 Mio USD), including estimation of purchase price, identification of synergies and presentation of final recommendation to Harman CFO
• Conduct make or buy analyses and cost controlling on manufacturing reorganization of European operations in conjunction with major cost savings initiatives
2003 - 2005Responsibilities:
• Conducted regular financial reviews of the company’s European business units
• Follow-up on legal and purchase accounting issues of acquired companies
Achievements:
• Designed and developed inventory valuation method for European Automotive division with over 100 Mio USD standard inventory value
• Reorganised the legal set up of the European Consumer division increasing profitability while reducing income tax exposure
2001 - 2003Responsibilities:
• Performed internal audits and consulting reviews with focus on efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes and controls
Achievements:
• Participated in due diligence of two major acquisition targets in Germany, from detailed analysis of accounts, risks and exposures to providing post-acquisition accounting integration
• Identified internal control weaknesses in review of European Consumer division which led to reorganization of legal structure
2000 - 2001Responsibilities:
• Managed general accounting, cost accounting and period-end closing and reporting activities as required by parent company Thyssen France

• Hired and trained a team of four accountants
• Established cost accounting information system and procedures
• Led accounting integration of acquired business unit into SRTM

• Developed Access database to standardize cost accounting procedures
