    - Led effort to define the architectural design for Applications within the Engineering department, to ensure consistency,
    performance, maturity and harmonize integration across all the applications of British Airways.
    - Led definition as the prime technical contact for British Airways concerning domains such as such as cabin crew and
    maintenance GUIs, connectivity, IFE security, data management for crews and passengers.
    - Continued to flow down expertise on systems design resulting in the publication of numerous System Specifications

  • THALES (Irvine, California, USA) - Sr. Systems Manager (IFE systems)

    2007 - 2009 Responsibilities: direct report to Generic Systems Engineering Director; managed a 4 M$ budget and a 5-person multicultural diverse team; ensured cost and development schedule control, on time delivery and performance/maturity of delivered software applications.

    - Led effort to define the architectural design for Applications within the Engineering department, to harmonize integration across different Thales IFE platforms.
    - Ensured systems requirements' implementation covered customers and product strategy requirements
    - Ensured process of system requirements floz dozn to Software reams (Irvine, India, France) and participating thrid parties
    - Took an active role in requirements negotiation during bid phase of major customer programs resulting in an optimized approach that balanced customer satisfaction with internal constraints while reducing development risk
    - Established an Applications’ development process that resulted in the generation of 6000+ systems requirements, which provided specific direct design guidance to the software development teams and the delivery of 36+ applications, including BITE, Map oriented applications (ASXi, 3D Maps, CGI), network oriented applications (Chat, Broadcast Messages, ...), ALNA (v1 and v2), Communications Manager, Crew and Maintenance GUIs, Games integration (2D and 3D), etc.
    - Mentored team members to flow down expertise on Human Factors resulted in a complete redesign of the Crew and Maintenance Control GUIs; finalist of the Crystal Cabin Awards at Aircraft Interiors 2008.
    - Led team effort to flow down expertise on systems design, resulting in an overall system video performance improvement of up to 33% and implementation of degraded modes, e.g., seamless continuation of passenger/crew applications in the event of a single server failure.

    Courbevoie 2005 - 2006 Responsibilities: international dual reporting (FR, USA); managed a 6-person team of systems, installation and technical sales
    engineers.

    - Represented Engineering department of our US sister company in Europe.
    - Defined solutions, jointly with US IFE Engineering, to support clients, Airbus and seat suppliers during the
    development phase of IFE programs (for A380, Airbus S/A & Airbus L/R programs).
    - Actively supported Sales teams for IFE sales campaigns, introductory technical meetings (ITCMs) & FAL teams for
    installation before delivery.
    - Led system engineering definition efforts of new IFE programs
  • THALES (Irvine, California, USA) - Systems Manager (IFE systems)

    2004 - 2004 A380 IFE system specification

    Responsibilities: international dual reporting (FR, USA); worked in a matrix organization at both engineering and program levels.
    This consultancy assignment was conducted concurrently with the FACE responsibilities (see above).

    - Advised US IFE Engineering on system specification processes to adapt Thales’ requirements process methodology
    in the Avionics sector to IFE (thus improving IFE development standards and maturity).
    - Led and was a major contributor of the generation of the system specification for the IFE of the A380 with traceability
    to air framer requirements and internal test verification procedures.
    - Performed system level testing the requirements of the THALES A380 IFE system in the Irvine labs.
    - Participated actively in the collaboration between French (AMS) and US (IFE) departments resulting in the integration of
    AMS R&D developments in TopSeries™ such as BITE or RS485 in-seat communications.

    Courbevoie 2003 - 2005 R&D project on Passenger Comfort in the Cabin, named Friendly Aircraft Cabin Environment (FACE)

    Responsibilities: direct report to R&D Director; managed a 5-person team with human factors, marketing and technical skills; 1 M€
    budget; coordination with European partners; shared results with US entity for reuse in their product development.

    - Directed market studies resulting in the definition of future IFE services’ targets.
    - Contributed to internal Product Definition based on R&D results and promoted them to customers.
    - Led some internal and external new Product Development including but not limited to GUI usability (PAX, Crew),
    wireless cabin communications (Airbus-cabin NSS), seat actuators communications (Messier Bugatti - RS485),
    seat installation (Recaro).
    - Developed and exercised specialist expertise in the above mentioned domains.

    Courbevoie 2001 - 2003 Thales inRoute Moving Map application

    Responsibilities: managed a 2-person team; 0.5 M€ budget; involved in the sales quotation and negotiation with customer.
    - Reused/adapted European funded developments resulting in 50% reduction of overall development costs.
    - Demonstrated expertise in embedded Java optimization resulting in 60% less CPU usage.
    - Adapted development process of the company to the certification level required by the IFE domain resulted in 40%

    1999 - 2001 Responsibilities: managed a 2-person team; 0.4 M€ budget; “streams” consultancy to other teams within the department.

    - Developed an embedded C code generator. Certified DO178B level C on July, 7th 2000.
    - Expertise in “Streams” technology resulted in streams optimized implementation proposals.
    - Contributed to the development of a communication stack (RRI) for the Air Traffic Network FAA project.

    Responsibilities: analysis of the initial security level, summary and proposal of operational recommendations.
