After I completed my Master's in Translation (specialised in Legal and Business Translation), I decided to go freelance as an EN > FR translator. I enjoy reading and writing during my spare time, which contributes towards enhancing my writing skills.
Through my travels, be they holiday- or study-related, I gained a sense of initiative and adaptation, as well as analytical skills.
I am happy to consider any type of translation projects, although I am specialised in the aforementioned fields.

  • Agence de traduction - Intern / Stagiaire

Lissieu 2014 - maintenant This 6-month end-of-study internship allowed me to learn first-hand about the translation market, from the perspective of agencies (such as the one I was working for) as well as from that of freelancers (with whom agencies are in close collaboration). I could learn how to use various translation tools such as QA Distiller, Studio 2014, Align Factory, hone my reviewing skills, and find out about project management.

2013 - 2013 I was teaching Translation tutorials for First Years in LEA (Language Degree). I had to prepare the texts and manage 1.5-hour tutorials two times a week for one semester. At the end of the semester, I had to mark the exam copies. I really enjoyed this second teaching experience, which differed from the first one in that it took place in an academic environment, which was very enriching for me.
  • Gaea21 - Translator / Traductrice

2013 - 2013 During my 4-month internship at gaea21, an association promoting sustainable development, I was working 8 hours a week from home in the Translation Department. That was my first experience of actually being part of a translation team. We worked with Google Drive and organised department meetings via Skype. I was involved in four projects, two of which I was in charge of (including the translation of their website). I learned a lot about project management and the working methods of translators, and overall I really enjoyed my time with gaea21.

  • ONCALL Interpreters & Translators - Intern / Stagiaire

2013 - 2013 During my time with ONCALL, I was under the supervision of Alex Avella, who took on his time to give me the opportunity to see for myself what it is like to work in a translation agency. It allowed me to get a more professional approach to translation, by discovering various CAT tools, like Trados or Microsoft Publisher, and doing various tasks, like audio transcription/translation, and observing how translators work as a team within the agency.

  • French Centre for Language & Cultural Studies - Professeur de français / French teacher

2012 - 2012 I was a teacher at the French Centre, which is a language centre that offers evening classes in French for adults. I was in charge of the Beginner levels 1, 2 and 3, and taught people who had little to no knowledge of French in a relaxed and engaging way. I was glad that I found this job, which was a great first experience in teaching French in an English-speaking country for me.
  • BIOMNIS - Accounting assistant / Assistante comptable

LYON 2010 - 2010 They offered me the same job I held two years ago when I was working here. I met my colleagues again and discovered new aspects of the job. On the whole, I was delighted with my second experience in Biosphere.
  • BIOMNIS - Accounting assistant / Assistante comptable

LYON 2008 - 2008 Working here was my first job and my first experience as part of a team, so I learned a great deal from my co-workers and their own experiences in the department.
Biosphere is the accounting department for Biomnis, which was formed when two laboratories, LCL and LMM, merged. During my experience working for the company, I dealt with problems related to the mail, which involved correcting mistakes in the sums, retrieving references when people had not stated them, returning cheques when the files had already been paid up. I did data capture too, for debit cards and bank transfers, using the Datapoint and Openlab software, which gather all the personal data of customers. I learned a lot from working here, and I was very pleased with my first professional experience.
