    Multi-Million Exploration project for potash in the Danakil depression near the border between Ethiopia and Erytrea. The exploration activities included a 2D seismic survey (vibroseis) and exploration drilling with 2 rigs and wireline logging. Ethiopia was a new contry for BHPB and all structures in country were to be Implemented including security assessment, logistics and general new country processes.

    • Ensure Program Activities have appropriate capacity and capability to effectively manage and execute exploration programs.
    • Accountable for developing and gaining approval for Screening Notices and Investment Approval requests relating to Program Operations, working closely with the Exploration Manager Geoscience.
    • Accountable for field verification of inputs into Title Strategies relating to Program Operations.
    • Accountable for executing Title Strategies associated with Program Operations including application, acquisition and maintenance of minerals exploration title, working closely with the Title and Contracts Manager.
    • Accountable for developing Program Execution Plans matched to Technical Decision Trees, working closely with the Exploration Manager Geoscience, the Manager – HSEC Risk, the Singapore based functional experts (Aviation, Vehicles, Drilling, Asset Protection & Logistics) and the Contracts Manager.
    • Accountable for executing Exploration Programs according to plan and to the Standards, Procedures and approach outlined in the Minerals Exploration Way (including Success through Safety).
    • Accountable for driving and verifying a very high level of Operating Discipline in Program Operations according to Operations Plans and the Minerals Exploration Way (including Success through Safety).
    • Accountable for operations execution and data acquisition and for in-field/region data analysis and interpretation. Responsible for working with the Exploration Manager Geoscience to review geoscience results at each KDP, adapt Technical Decision Tree, and amend work program design as required.
    • Ensures that HSEC and business risk issues and events are understood and managed. Provides assurance that controls for material risks are appropriate and effective. Verifies that Program Operations conform with ‘The Minerals Exploration Way’ and ‘Success Through Safety’ requirements;
    • Accountable for ensuring that Program Operations and Offices have demonstrated capacity to effectively manage and recover from crises and emergencies.
    • Measures and reports against performance of Program Operations.Provides guidance to MinExCo on local exploration trends. Tracks 3rd party exploration results. Responsible for identifying exploration acquisition opportunities.
    • Accountable for tracking program spend relative to annual budget and ensuring monthly forecasts are accurate and informing MinEx of any significant deviations.
