  • Siemens Management Consulting - Senior Consultant

    Saint-Denis 2004 - maintenant Klaus Kleinfeld (current CEO of Siemens) started SMC as talent pool for developing General Management as well as providing a way for Siemens to innovate, fix problems and reengineer their business groups. The full-for-profit consulting group competes with McKinsey, A.T. Kearny, and other top-consulting firms for projects and with only 1 available client, impact is critical to success. Key positions at Siemens are now held by SMC alumni.

    At SMC NY there is a special mentoring program to provide consultants with senior VP level mentors for career development. In addition, consultants are placed in the Siemens top management talent database. There are around 160 consultants with offices in Munich, New York and Beijing. SMC provides consulting services to Siemens businesses in all methodology areas.

    SV – Global Innovation Benchmarking, based in Regenburg, Germany
    Project aims to ensure the competitiveness for the next product generation (≥ 2012)
    - For modules “emerging markets” and “non automotive business” clearly derive market requirements from interviews with OEM customers
    - Determine the competitive advantage for SV P and prepare recommendation for future portfolio decision

    SE&A - Go-to-market benchmarking, based in Atlanta, USA
    - Benchmark against main competitors all functions included in go-to-market approach from sales, marketing, channel management to back office functions and pricing for 1.7 USD billion business
    - Identify improvement ideas, quantify and drive implementation plan

    Medical – Relocation of 3 business groups to 1 location, Beijing & Shanghai, China
    - Identify synergies and quantify plus develop plan for merge of 3 separate businesses into one

    COM – Strategy and new market entry, based in Boca Raton, USA
    - Market modeling including definition, sizing, growth rates and segmentation
    - Market understanding focusing on competitor gap analysis and a deep dive into the analysis of the potential customers
    - Building of a business case for new market entry into a value added services area including structuring the model, revenue and cost model, financial assumptions and sensitivities analysis (possible 40 USD million investment)

    SBT HVP – Strategy and market analysis, based in Chicago, USA
    - Strategy and market analysis project including market modeling (sizing, growth rates and segmentation)
    - Analyze key market trends and customer requirements to identify how to grow business from ~50 million to 100 million in a few years

    SE&A – Growth, based in Atlanta, USA
    - Growth project focusing on account development and planning process in a complex matrix sales organization, my module is expected to deliver over USD 200 million in additional revenues by FY2008
    - Levers for growth included developing a formal planning process aligned with current budgeting processes to improve coordination between three sales groups all involved selling to the same customer

    SBT – New market entry, based in Chicago, USA & Zurich, Switzerland
    - Market entry evaluation project for security technologies including M&A screening
    - Evaluation of potential acquisition targets to determine top targets

    USA Corp – Strategy & M&A screening, New York, USA
    - Strategy for acquisitions and screening for acquisition targets under President of Siemens USA ranging from 20 million to several billion dollar companies
    - Assisted in development of a tracking methodology for identified potential targets

    PG - Pre-acquisition integration preparation, Erlangen, Germany
    - Focus on risk mitigation for Russian Power Machines for PG focused on contract analysis and identification of risk size for over 2.5 billion of contracts
    - Preparation for initial meetings with Russian management and training on risk assessment process
