  • VIB - Doctoral Scientist

2007 - 2011 KU Leuven & Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre ( Feb 2007- Sept 2011 ) : Invented a new tool to isolate eukaryotic cell membranes using nanoparticles for
high resolution Omics analysis. Research Associate (0.5 years): involved in development nanoparticles for
endosomal proteomics. The Project involves collaboration among 5 VIB Research Groups (Wim Annaert Lab,
Pieter Baatsen Lab, Kris Gevaert Lab, Nico Callewaert Lab, Bart De Strooper Lab), 2 KU Leuven Research
Groups (Etienne Waelkens Lab, Johanne Swinnen Lab) and 1 Research Group from IMEC (Gustaaf Borghs).
Lab Administration and supervising graduate students ( 2007-till date ) - Student leader in a group that
promotes research collaboration between five major VIB research units and an industry
  • Merck Sharp and Dohme Laboratories, Singapore - Trainee

2006 - 2006 Project Associate: Designed MS-Excel-PI-Minitab based interface for simvastatin crude process control and it has been implemented in the on-site process control unit at Merck Singapore.
  • Bioprocessing Technology Institute, Singapore - Project Assistant

2006 - 2006 Project Associate: Studied the comparison of cell surface glycosylation and apoptosis in gene targeted eukaryotic cell lines. We investigated the effects in cell surface glycosylation due to apoptotic gene knock-outs in CHO cells and observed enhanced sialylation in the cell surface proteins in the knock-out cell lines.

Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, (1 year) India
Project Assistant at Indian Institute for Toxicology Research, Lucknow India: Performed biochemical
studies on the enzyme activity in Drosophila as a model organism against pesticide exposure. We observed
increase toxicity effects in adult flies with increase in pesticide dosage and exposure time period. Project
Assistant at Central Electrochemical Research Institute Karikudi, India: Designed yeast based mixed
microbial biosensor for Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) monitoring as part of the Department of Energy
(DOE)-Bio consortium India project for the generation of Industrial prototype BOD sensor.
