En résumé

After a Ph.D. (Pr Eric Enholm, University of Florida, USA) and 2 postdoctoral fellowships (ESPCI, Paris, France and ICSN-CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France), I've been recruited at the INRA (French Institute for Agronomics Research) as a "Chargé de Recherche" (Senior Scientist) to work on lignin chemistry, biosynthesis and valorization at the Versailles Research Center.

At the INRA, my research projects dealt with the total synthesis of natural phenolic compounds, the creation and valorization of new bio-based polymers/materials, and the study of the lignification in planta using cell wall mimetics and DHP polymerization.

Today, with the Chair of Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies, we are creating a multidisciplinary research team gathering scientists with background and expertise in life sciences (biology, chemistry, materials) to work on the bioconversion of biomass to high value-added chemicals/materials. Using biotechnologies and green chemistry, our ambition is to build integrated industrial chains going from plants to commercial products.

Entreprises

  • AgroParisTech - Professeur et Directeur de la Chaire ABI

Paris 2012 - maintenant As the Director of the Chair of Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies, my missions consist in:

    - building a new teaching chair and research laboratory dedicated to the valorization of agro-resources using white biotechnologies and green chemistry
    - managing a new research team composed of scientists, engineers, technicians, graduate students and postdocs with competencies in microbiology, material sciences, analytical and organic chemistry
    - collaborating with local industrial partners to promote local employment
    - teaching new green chemistry-related classes
  • INRA - Chargé de Recherche

Paris 2007 - 2012 My research team focuses its efforts on the "Chemical modelization of the biosynthesis of lignins" to understand the mechanism of lignification. The main goal of this project is (1) to understand how lignins form in the plants and (2) find new applications of lignins (i.e. biofuels, biomaterials, chemicals, drugs...).

Dedicated to green chemistry and sustainable development, we also work on new bio-based polymers and composite materials from lignocellulosic biomass using white biotechnologies.
  • ICSN-CNR Gif-sur-Yvette - Ingénieur de Recherche - Postdoctorant

2006 - 2007 This postdoctoral fellowship has been devoted to the synthesis of deuterated triethylboranes and to the study of the mechanisms involved in the reduction of xanthates using triethylborane and air. This research project showed that the complexation of H2O/alcohols with triethylborane allowed the homolytic cleavage of the O-H bond.
  • ESPCI - Laboratoire de Chimie Organique - Post-doctorant

2004 - 2006 As an ARC fellow (http://www.arc-cancer.net/), during this 2-year postdoctoral research project, I've worked on the total synthesis of various anticancer drugs (fostriecin, AB spiroketal of spongistatin, verbalactone and diospongin A).
  • University of Florida - Department of Chemistry - Graduate student - Teaching/research assistant

2000 - 2004 Three main projects have been explored:
    - the use of carbohydrates as chiral auxiliaries in diastereoselective/enantioselective radical reactions
    - the synthesis of new ROMP-based MIP (Molecular Imprinted Polymers)
    - the synthesis of new cyclic RGD peptidomimetics as DNA transfection agents
  • University of Florida - Department of Chemistry - Undergraduate traineee - Stagiaire de Maîtrise (M1)

1999 - 1999 As a REU student, I've worked in the group of Pr E. J Enholm on a research project dealing with stereoselective radical cyclization using carbohydrates as chiral ligands.
  • Université Bordeaux 1 - Etudiant en DEA

Talence 1999 - 2000 This research project was carried out in Pr Yannick Landais' research group and dealt with the desymmetrization of silylcyclopentadienes using asymmetric cyclopropanations.
