Uncertainty management in mechanical engineering applications :

My research is associated to the topic «Uncertainty quantification » of LAMIH’s Crash and Comfort and Safety (C2S) group and concerns the development of efficient numerical methods for the simulation of mechanical problems with variability (interval, fuzzy sets). In this context, to propose robust design, some works, based on optimization under uncertainty with metaheuristic, homotopy development and projection techniques, robustness criterions and uncertainty propagation techniques, have been proposed. Currently, my work is focussed on the stability analysis of rubbing systems defined with uncertainty and more precisely squeal phenomenon for braking systems.

1. Numerical methods in mechanical engineering
Surrogate models, reanalysis techniques
Taylor developments, homotopy development and projection for dynamic analysis
Fuzzy logic controller, robust control for contact problem

2. Uncertainty propagation
Fuzzy sets and interval modelisations
Eigenvalue, harmonic, transient and non linear contact problems with variability
Local optimization, design of experiments, sensitivity, parametric analysis

3. Robust design
Optimization under uncertainty
Global optimization, metaheuristic, exploration of design space with fuzzy sets
Robustness of optimal solutions

4. Study of squeal phenomenon for brake systems
Modal and SAE experiments,
Complex eigenvalue analysis, stability and robustness of instable modes
Improvement of predictivity of squeal simulations
