At the age of 18 years the ‘Conservatoire National de Region’ in Marseille.
The following year, Michel joined the CNIPAL (Centre National d’Insertion
Professionnelle d’Art Lyrique) in Marseille where he obtained his degree of arts
after a two years training.
In 1992, he was admitted first to the competitive entrance examination to CNSM
(Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse) in Paris. In parallel to attending the CNSM, Michel took a vocal training on the art of bel canto in Pisa, Italy alongside the Maestro Roberto Caverni.
At the end of these different studies, Michel was hired by the Marseille Opéra in
the role of Spoletta (Tosca) with Marcello Giordani ...
He then sung the roles of the first man of arms and the first priest in "Die
Zauberflöte" of Mozart on tour in the French Troupe "Opera Eclaté" which allowed him to perform in large houses such as Toulouse Opera, Bezier Opera, Saint-Cere Festival , Compiègne Opéra ...
In 2000, Michel d’Ottaviani held the first role in "Announcement to Mary"
contemporary opera composed by Olivier Kaspar during Duras Festival and in the Agen cathedral. He also sang the tenor solo part in Beethoven's ninth symphony.
Then, he joined the Paris National Opera Chorus and the Monte Carlo Opera and
sang in many productions alongside famous Opera singers : Lucciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Mirella Freni, José Van Dam, Renato Bruson ...
In 2004 he was invited by the Monte Carlo Opera to attend a tour in Japan
(Tokyo Opera, Nagoya, Osaka) to sing "La Traviata" with Roberto Alagna and
Angela Gheorghiu.
In 2002 , in parallel to his singing career, he created in Paris “l’Atelier du Chant' , an artistic training school currently welcoming over 150 students. Since 2004, he has been focusing most of his time to his students and to the expansion of this school.
