Stephane PORTHA

CAEN

En résumé

Stephane Portha has always had an innovative bent of mind and his career reflects this. In 1983, he was a part of the launch of Minitel - a telephone-accessed Videotext service that provided information to users long before the creation of the World Wide Web as we know it. But Stephane Portha's relationship with the internet doesn't end there. He helped create Multicâble, one of the original cabled internet networks, and was one of the Internet pioneers by using satellites to launch the internet in France back in 1985.

Playing video games, however, had always been Stephane Portha's passion. Finally in 1989, he found a way to marry his two loves, the internet and video games. He founded Eurocenter, an online gaming company that has developed some of the greatest games. Eurocenter provides original solutions that help run Multiplayer Online (MO) games on television, computers, consoles or mobile devices.

Stephane Portha's passion for games is seen through the company's growth. Eurocenter launched several online games, and by 2006, it won fans in the 500000 players across the world. GraalOnline is one of the most successful games developed by the company. Set in the medieval era, this Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game lets players create characters and build up their own world. Different players can interact through chat and can compete against each other to win quests and challenges. Some of the other games by this company include Adrenaline Golf Online, Dinosmash , Battle Online. Stephane Portha's company Linux Cyberjoueurs offered the first Online Flash games in 1998 and a game engine used in many Online games.

The next three years were spent creating games for the iPhone, iPad and Android platforms. Since its conception, the company's popularity has steadily been increasing. Now known as Eurocenter Games, the company has designed, developed and distributed more than sixteen million games through the App Store. Despite this overwhelming success, however, Eurocenter Games has not forgotten its roots and with Stephane Portha's guidance, it still keeps its player community at the center of everything it does.
