    As Senior RF Optimization Engineer, my task is to make a general study and audit on Cable and Wireless GSM Network for generating KPI report. The study includes new cell planning for densification purposes, new cell planning where acquisition failed, BSS parameter modifications for solving optimization problems, Hardware modifications (as tilt, azimuth, antennas).

    I’m also involved in a Biband Study 850/1900 MHz for transferring TDMA frequency to GSM 850. This analysis include Traffic Analysis on TDMA for reducing the band, new frequency planning on TDMA, identifying cells for implementing GSM 850, new frequency planning for GSM850.

    As Senior Pre Sales Engineer, my responsibility is involved within multi projects for proposals of Design and Optimization recommendations for Wireless Networks for clients over ASIAPACIFIC areas including Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

    Projects are detailed below:

    GSM-R planning and recommendations including Link budget calculation, engineering solution 900 and 1800 MHz with Hi-PA 60 W BTS S8003, Air-Repeater, Optical Repeater, Channel selective frequency translating repeater, tunnel coverage solution. GSM-R BSS parameter recommendations for achieving QOS requirements. Solution for high speed issues (Hand-Over time enhancement, presynchronised Hand-Over, cell reselection, power control, and paging parameters).Recommendations are for Voice and data. Solution for solving security issues. Installation recommendation for Cab-radio and Indoor-radio. Radio channel dimensioning (TCH, SDCCH, CCCH...) and optimization.

    CDMA2000 and 1XRTT including Link Budget calculation, cell planning on reverse and forward Link. Configuration solution for enhancing capacity for voice and data 9.6, 38.4, 76.8, 153.6 kb/s. Ec/Io optimization and solution for reducing Soft hand-off areas and pilot pollution minimize out-of cell interference.

    UTRAN cell planning and recommendation strategy using the infrastructure of an existing GSM1800 network for achieving customer QOS requirements. Link Budget calculation and new thresholds design .Traffic analysis and recommendations on both wireless networks within a long term planning view.

    As RF/Optimization Principal Engineer role, my main tasks are as follows:

    • Cellular Planning for Merging two Networks 900/900extended/1800 into one Biband Network based on Customer’s requirements
    • Creating the frequency planning for Biband Network
    • Conducting and validating the frequency planning using Tems
    • Fixing Nokia&Motorola parameters for Biband Network
    • Including 3G sites planning using Customer’s traffic Map

    In parallel of this project, I was involved in the UMTS QOS optimization using a Siemens UMTS Turnkey Network. My task was to analyze the AGILENT(Viper) file for detecting faulty mobile behavior and to test/validate the UMTS debit rate under Interferences. The final report was to validate the QOS using UTRAN KPI counters.

    Nortel Networks is building a new DSC1800/GPRS Network over the existing TDMA for the Trinidadian Operator TSTT. As RF-Optimization Senior Engineer role, my main tasks are as follows:

    • Supervise Carriers Waves Drive Testing
    • Responsible for creating and tuning Propagation models that fits the propagation characteristics in the defined radio environments
    • Initial cell plan in the RF propagation tool Planet using the design link budget in conjunction with the initial tuned models, height restrictions and other parameters
    • Frequency planning as a SFH 1*1 configuration and Interference Analysis
    • Conduct TEMS measurements for Site Validation Coverage/Frequency planning validation
    • Testing GPRS features for BSS V12 ( parameters and counters)

    My responsibility was to optimize 6 BSCs, drop call rate lowest as possible, quality best as possible using statistics counters and radio Network features provided in the Ericsson GSM systems R7. Using Radio Network Optimization functions (MRR, NCS,FAS, PMR ), CNA, Metrica.

    My Main tasks were as follow:

    • Responsible for troubleshooting cells based on Observation Counters Analysis
    • Ensure BSC’s respecting Operator’s Requirements in term of drop call/blocking rate
    • Optimize Cells behavior by taking Soft/Hardware Actions ( BSS parameters modification, A/Abis Analysis, Uplink/Downlink Analysis, Antennas and feeders commissioning, Tilting and reazimuting Sites, solving Interferences problems, adding/deleting neighbors using NCS…)
    • Responsible for Capacity Planning in order to avoid Congestion Problems
    • Responsible for planning New Coverage/Capacity Sites

    Meudon 1996 - 1999 2G, BOUYGUES TELECOM and NORTEL NETWORKS & NOKIA, Bordeaux, France

    Bouygues Telecom is a GSM1800 National Operator in France
    The engineering department consists of sub-departments made up of radio planning and transmission planning. My responsibility was to manage a sub department of radio planning: Deployment of 160 sites and subsequent optimization.
    Technical responsibility to plan and design an optimal BSS Network that is capable of supporting all the customers’ services and to ensure a best quality and Grade of Service.
    My role involved co-coordinating suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that project timescales were achieved

    My main task during these three years was to build a GSM Network from the initial traffic forecast to the integration and final optimization:


    • Traffic’s Forecasts using Subscribers’ Models
    Working directly with Marketing Department my aim was to build a Traffic Map using subscribers’ data
    • BSS system dimensioning
    Building BTS, BSC, and TCU maps relating to the nature of equipments. NOKIA S6 and Nortel V10

    • Building, tuning and Validation of propagation models:

    • Theoretical Cell planning using the Planet prediction tool (MSI’s software), site survey, radio survey & measurement (Chase system), site evaluation.

    My current responsibilities were to validate Sites engineering:
    - Selecting appropriate Site (within modifications to cells and onsite investigation), antennas types and configurations, feeders, LNAs, BSS equipments
    - Selecting appropriate antenna heights
    - Selecting appropriate antenna types
    - Selecting appropriate antennas orientations and tilts
    - Selecting appropriate feeders and LNAS (Low Noise Amplifying Systems)
    - Selecting appropriate Base Station. (Nortel Equipments S4000, S8000, S8000 smart, and NOKIA Citytalk/Intratalk)
    Appropriate means: relative to ” best Quality and Grade of service to assume ”, « a specific mobile coverage to serve », ” an equipment cost to optimize ”.

    My responsibilities was to build a frequency map for the Network using different tools to reduce Adjacent and Co Channel interferences
