I have the opportunity to do my last internship within the EDF group from January 9th 2012 to July 7th 2012. EDF is the world’s largest utility company, specialized in the global electrical process, from engineering to distribution. I am involved in the construction of a new Combine Cycle Gas Turbine power station in the United Kingdom. Doing my final training period abroad on behalf of an international industrial project is very enriching and motivating.
I join the Civil Works Contract Administration team, which manages all civil works contracts, from tender requests to invoices analysis, including works follow-up. When I have joined the team, the main civil and steel works were almost finished and the construction of roads, footpaths and landscaping have just started.
I worked on different type of contracts such as Purchase Orders, Lump Sums or Framework Agreements, with contractors of different sizes ranging from local businesses to global groups. I also have the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks such as tender analysis and negotiation, quantity surveys or claims.
In the team, I am assigned to routine and short missions. Regarding my routine assignments, I am responsible of the follow-up of the budget of small contractors, analysis of invoices and preparing claims. Short missions included the setting up of a new process for invoicing and tender requests for miscellaneous works.
