Research activities at Laboratoire de Génie Chimique (LGC)
- I conduct research in process system engineering, with an emphasis in small scale modelling: molecular simulation, thermodynamics, computer aided molecular and mixture design. At the process scale, I deal with the design and synthesis of extractive distillation processes.
With the help of non equilibrium thermodynamic principles and E. Morin's theory of "la pensée complexe", I address problems with a holistic approach, as open systems with technical requirements within socio-economic issues.
Scientific achievements
- (2016) 80+ peer reviewed articles as a senior author, 2 patents, 7 book chapters, 110+ proceeding.
- supervision of 13 PhD thesis and 11 post-docs.
- coordination of 7 international research projects, from 3 to 15 partners.
- conception of 6 commercial softwares (MeXtar 1.2, distributed by Laffort SA, MeXtar 2.0 distributed by EnoOne Italy, ResidueCurve® and RegSolExpert® distributed by Prosim SA, conference web manager KCM Manager®, P3 property prediction package, IBSS Computer Aided Molecular Design.
- member of the French chemical engineering society in the computer and chemical engineering and in the thermodynamic sections.
- Director of French GDR CNRS Thermodynamics.
Teaching
- molecular thermodynamics, molecular modelling, process design, unit operation modelling at the INP-ENSIACET engineering school and for masters students at the University of Toulouse, non equilibrium thermodynamics of sustainable systems.
- author of 3 interactive courses: process modelling and simulation; molecular simulation for chemical engineers; molecular thermodynamics.
